Highlights
- Eight (8) hours work for eight (8) hours pay when three (3) shifts are worked;
- $2.00 per hour second shift additive
- $2.25 per hour third shift additive
- Forty (40) hours per week, Monday – Friday constitutes a typical work week.
- The National Maintenance Agreements (NMAs) operate on a twenty-four (24) hour clock. (Reference Policy Decision XV-6)
- All time worked before or after the established shift shall receive premium time pay.
- Change in starting and quitting times of an established shift requires mutual consent of the Employer (Contractor) and the Union (Craft), unless Owner/Client directed.
- Employees are to be at their posts at their regular starting time.
- Employees are to be provided a thirty (30) minute unpaid lunch break.
- Premium time Monday-Friday as well as Saturday is time and one-half (1 ½x), Sunday and Holiday premium time is not to exceed double time (2x).
- Four (4) day, ten (10) hours per shift Flexible Work Schedule
- Monday – Thursday with Friday as an optional straight-time make-up day
- Ten (10) hours work for ten (10) hours pay
- $2.00 per hour second shift additive, when applicable
- Friday is a voluntary make-up day
- Employees must inform their Employer on Thursday if they are not willing to work the make-up day and shall NOT be penalized

Policy Decisions
- XV-1 – Clarification of Shift Additives by Example
- Provides clarification of the proper application of shift rates, shift additives and overtime through several shift schedule variations using one (1), two (2) and three (3) shift schedules.
- XV-2 – Application of Shift Additives
- Provides clarification that when shift additives differ in local collective bargaining agreements from those contained in the NMA that the applicable shift additives for NMA work shall be those contained in the NMA.
- It also provides clarification that shift additives will follow a shift through its completion spirit and intent of the NMA by deliberately mis-assigning work
- XV-3 – Organized Breaks
- Provides clarification that there are no organized breaks provided for under the NMA.
- XV-4 – Shift Additives Payable on Single Shifts
- Provides clarification that shift additives may be applicable for work being performed under a single shift schedule.
- XV-5 – “Pick-Up” Time and “Early Quits”
- Provides clarification that non-productive time is contrary to the spirit and intent of the NMA and that the employers shall determine the necessary time needed to pick-up or clean-up after a shift.

- Provides clarification as to proper application of the twenty-four (24) hour clock rule for determining what the applicable premium-time rate is for work involving Saturday and Sunday hours.

- Provides clarification of work break requirements for situations where it is necessary to utilize employees from previous shifts in order to complete a maintenance task within a twenty-four (24) hour period.

- Provides clarification for situations pertaining to the proper compensation of employees when they report tardy and /or leave early before the completion of the regularly scheduled shift.
